New Delhi, July 29, 2025 —The Parliament Monsoon Session entered a decisive stage on Tuesday with the debate on Operation Sindoor set to continue. Union Home Minister Amit Shah is expected to address the Lok Sabha between 12 pm and 1 pm, a key moment in the ongoing discussion on national security following the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack.

The debate, which began Monday under the leadership of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, extended past midnight, lasting until 1 am Tuesday. Today, the discussion shifts to the Rajya Sabha, marking a rare 16-hour parliamentary debate on a security operation.

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar told the Lok Sabha that India’s talks with the United States regarding the Pahalgam attack never touched upon trade, stressing that international groupings such as Quad and BRICS strongly condemned the attack.

Meanwhile, Deputy Leader of Lok Sabha Gaurav Gogoi accused the government of failing to bring the perpetrators to justice, pointing out that more than 100 days have passed since the attack with five terrorists still at large.

The debate has drawn praise from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who lauded Defence Minister Rajnath Singh’s speech as “an insightful perspective on the success of India’s security apparatus and the courage of our armed forces.” He also commended Jaishankar’s address, noting that the world has clearly heard India’s firm stance against terrorism.

Outside Parliament, tensions ran high as protests over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list in Bihar entered their sixth day. Members of the INDIA bloc, including Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and party chairperson Sonia Gandhi, demanded that the Election Commission suspend the exercise, alleging irregularities in the process.

With both national security and electoral transparency dominating the Monsoon Session, Shah’s upcoming remarks are expected to set the tone for the days ahead.
